Sanyo announces PLV-Z4000

Just when you thought Sanyo was bowing out of the home theater market

comes the announcement of the new PLV-Z4000, the company's latest 1080p home theater projector. Rated at 1200 lumens and 65,000:1 contrast, this 120 Hz LCD projector will begin shipping next month at a retail price of $2,495. It looks similar to the Z3000, and has the same 2x zoom, and three picture height lens shift, and an improved frame interpolation system. It also has what Sanyo calls TopazReal HD and 3D Color Management System for improved color accuracy.

It is quite unusual to get a high profile home theater projector product release this time of year. More info to follow soon....

If this is the best Sanyo can do for price point maybe they should bow out. Large TVs are now coming on strong and cheap. Considering it's easier to regulate picture quality, they are becoming a more favorable option.

The specs seem to be the same as the Z3000. Is this correct?

Sanyo does not seem to go to full HD 3D. Why produce a new full HD projector that is not 3D ?

Who will pay that price for a none 3D projector at this moment when 3D is the way to go. I own a PLV-Z2000 and when I'll replace it it will defenitively be for a full HD 3D projector.
