Optoma HD25 review in the works

The next home video projector review will be the Optoma HD25, a 2000-lumen 1080p model selling for $949...

Bill is giving this one a work out at the moment, and the review will be posted next week.

Btw, if you are in the market for a 1080p home theater projector under $1000, the last thing you'd want to do is spend a big chuck of cash for a screen to go with it. So what is the best way to get a great performing screen that will show off your projector at its best, for not too much money?

To answer this question we are planning to do a comprehensive review of DIY screens this summer. If you have experience making your own screen and you're happy with the results, please drop us a line and let us know how you've solved the problem. We will construct and test the various solutions people have come up with and highlight the solutions that test out the best for the money. If you want to share your experience with us, click here. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Make sure you include some info on the HD25-LV model too! The 3000 lumens version will be great for viewing bright 3D content on big screens.

It appears the HD25 and HD25-LV use the same bulb, have the exact same weight and dimensions and appear almost identical in most every other way besides their rated speaker/audio output -- so how does Optoma get the "LV" version to deliver 60% more lumens (3200 vs. 2000) than the HD25?

A further confusing point is that some claim that the two projectors only differ in brightness with 2D material and that their brightness is the same in 3D. How is this possible?

Might the "LV" be too bright in some environments?

Apart from the obvious price difference, certainly there must be some trade-offs to consider in deciding which projector will work and look the best in your home theater?
