BenQ unveils new HT Projectors

Among several other products, BenQ is unveiling two new home theater projectors this week at the Infocomm trade show in Orlando…

The first is the BenQ W1500, a native 1080p projector using DLP DarkChip3, and carrying specs of 10,000:1 contrast and 2200 ANSI lumens. This full HD 3D projector features wireless capability, enabling you to connect Blu-ray, satellite or other HD sources without the need of an HDMI cable. A frame interpolation system smooths out the judder, and anyone sensitive to rainbow artifacts will be happy to hear the W1500 has a 6x-speed, six segment RGBRGB color wheel.

The W1500 is a relatively small unit, weighing under 9 lbs. It features a 1.6x zoom lens, a modest range of lens shift, and two 10W speakers onboard, so on paper it appears to be a very good candidate for portable video applications. It will be shipping by the end of the month at a price of $1,799 (3D glasses optional at extra cost).

BenQ is also releasing a smaller, brighter, and lower priced 3D model, the W750. This projector is feature reduced in many respects compared to the W1500. It has native 720p resolution chip instead of 1080p, a minimal 1.2x zoom lens, a single 10W speaker, and obviously no wireless or frame interpolation. It weighs under 6 lbs and is rated at 13,000:1 contrast and 2500 ANSI lumens. We don’t have a price yet, but it should be available soon since it will be shipping by end of month.

We have requested review samples, and will get them reviewed as soon as we receive them.

This thing sounds pretty fatty. Can't wait for the review. If the wireless HDMI is good enough that there is no noticeable lag for gaming then I'm very interested
