Optoma announces new 1080p home theater projector for $579

Optoma is releasing a new low priced 1080p home theater projector, the HD142x...

The official announcement will come on Monday, July 5, and shipments are to commence on July 15.

The Optoma HD142x is rated at 3000 lumens and 23,000:1 contrast. It is full 3D compatible and has MHL for wireless streaming, and it features an sRGB mode as well as a Reference Rec 709 for accurate color reproduction. This small portable projector also sports a 10-watt speaker, so it will accommodate portable and occasional use set ups where a permanent sound systems is not present.

Of particular note, lamp life on the HD142x is claimed to be improved up to 8000 hours, which substantially eases concerns related to the cost of replacement lamps.

At an estimated street price of $579, the Optoma HD142x will get a lot of attention. We look forward to seeing one asap for a full review.

HD142x and Backyard Movies? The Optoma HD142x may be a great option for backyard movie night this summer due to its portability, its brightness, its MHL wireless streaming and on-board speaker.
