Reviews in the mill - 4/21
We have the following projectors just recently reviewed, currently under review, or scheduled for review in the near term...
Sony VPL-HW45ES. The original HW45ES was published last year, but with the introduction of the Epson 3900 at the same price, and the recent drop in price of the Epson 5040UB, we have just added comparative notes to this review to discuss how the HW45ES stacks up against the 3900 and the 5040UB.

ViewSonic PX800HD. This is ViewSonic's new ultra short throw 1080p projector that produces an image up to 150" diagonal, quite a bit larger than most ultra short throws.
See the ViewSonic PX800HD review.
Epson Home Cinema 5040UB. Epson's least expensive 4K-enabled home theater projector has had a price reduction this month from $2,999 to $2,699. Quite often you can find authorized resellers who will sell for below the official prices, so it is worth visiting their sites to get an actual selling price.

Canon REALiS WUX6500. This 6500 lumen, WUXGA installation projector just started shipping in the last few weeks. This is the latest of Canon's successful LCoS-based models. It is well priced and one of the lightest and most compact of the projectors in its performance class. The WUX6500 is in house and the Road Test will commence next week.
Optoma ZU850M. The ZU850 is Optoma's new 8000 lumen, 1920x1200 resolution installation projector. This laser-phosphor based light engine has a 30,000 hour life expectancy. It is expected to arrive for a Road Test shortly.
Epson Pro LS10500. The Pro LS10500 is Epson's elegant top of the line home theater projector, featuring 4K enhancement technology and a ultra high contrast laser-based light engine with a 30,000 hour lifespan. The LS10500 has arrived and is in review.
JVC DLA-RS520. One of JVC's latest 4K e-shift home theater projectors, the RS520 is now in house. Featuring 18Gbps architecture, DCI color space, and THX certification, the RS520 is a strong competitive entry for premium custom installation home theater.
ViewSonic LS830. The LS830 is rated at 4500 lumens and 100,000:1 contrast, is ViewSonic's brightest Full HD 1080p ultra short throw projector, to be ideally matched with ViewSonic's 120" diagonal BrightPanel ambient light rejection screen. Our guess is that there will be more than a few consumers interested in this for ambient light home entertainment as well. The LS830 is scheduled to arrive for a Road Test shortly.
