Optoma has announced the release of the ProScene ZU720T, a new 7,500 lumen, WUXGA (1920x1200) DLP laser projector for use in museums, houses of worship, digital signage, or large conference rooms. What puts the Optoma ProScene ZU720T apart from its competition is that it's a high light output, large venue projector with an integrated lens that sells for only $4,999. A current search of the ProjectorCentral Find a Projector database shows that the next closest competitors among laser projectors in the 7,000-8,000 lumen and WUXGA resolution class cost nearly $2,000 more than the ZU720T before purchase of a separate detachable lens.

The Optoma's fixed lens has 1.8x manual optical zoom and throw ratio of 1.40-2.5:1 and can display an image up to a 300-inch diagonal. As shown by the ProjectorCentral Projection Calculator, to display a 100-inch diagonal, the ZU720T would need to be between 10.16 and 18.25 feet from the screen. It has full motorized lens shift adjustments up to +/- 55% vertical and +/- 25% horizontal.

Optoma's DuraCore laser light source outputs 7,500 lumens of brightness in a sealed IPX5 optical engine that is maintenance-free for up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode or up to 20,000 hours in Normal mode. In Eco mode, the ZU720T operates at a relatively quiet 27 decibels (31 dB in Normal). The projector accepts 4K signals, is HDR10 compatible, and supports 3D with 144Hz rapid refresh rate. It has brightness matching and edge blending tools for using multiple projectors together.

Connections include HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 for 4K signal input, an HDMI 1.4a input, HDMI out, HDBaseT, VGA, 3D sync, a 3.5mm audio in and out, two USB for power (1.5A), a USB for service, and a 12V trigger. The ZU720T runs on an integrated Android OS and has a built-in media player.

It has a 3-year parts and labor warranty and 5-year or 12,000 hour light source warranty. The Optoma ProScene ZU720T is available now from authorized dealers.
