Sharp/NEC Display Solutions has launched two new projectors originally announced for Europe at ISE Barcelona in early February—the 7,100-lumen PV710UL and the 8,000-lumen PV800UL. The projectors are designed for a broad range of applications including higher education, houses of worship, museums, and conference rooms.
Both projectors are 16:10 WUXGA (1920x1200) native resolution with a laser light source and 0.76-inch 3LCD display technology. They have a maximum resolution of 4096x2160 and the laser will last 20,000 hours. They use the same bayonet-style NP lenses that are compatible with Sharp/NEC's lamp-based projectors to facilitate easy upgrades to these laser options. The PV710UL comes standard with a NP13ZL lens which has a 2x zoom and a throw ratio of 1.46-2.95:1. With the range of available lenses, the projectors can display a 120-inch diagonal image from anywhere between 6.7 and 70 feet. Motorized focus, zoom, and horizontal and vertical lens shift with lens memory is supported, although the range of the lens shift is dependent on the lens used.
Connectivity is identical and includes two HDMI 2.0 with HDCP (one with 1.4 and one with 2.2), HDBaseT with HDCP, a stereo mini jack for audio out, USB 2.0, RS-232, and RJ-45. Included is ProAssist software for controlling the projector over a network and making adjustments when several projectors are used together.

The two projectors both measure 19.8 x 16.2 x 6.6 inches (WHD) and weigh 24.7 pounds. They come with a 5-year or 20,000 hours part and labor warranty which includes InstaCare next business day exchange. The PV710UL is available in black and white for $5,619, and the PV800UL—also available in black and white—is $9,179 without a lens. There's also a package with the PV800UL that includes the NP41ZL lens for $9,839.
