Maxell Pro AV has introduced three new compact 3LCD projectors that they showed at this year's ISE show. The MP-JW4001, MP-JU4001, and MP-JW3501 are laser light source projectors designed for classroom and conference room applications. All three have a small form factor, measuring only 13 x 10.6 x 2.7 inches and weighing just under eight pounds. According to Maxell these are the smallest 3LCD-based laser projectors available.
The J-series projectors use a yellow phosphor chip instead of a spinning phosphor wheel and motor that's used by most other laser projectors. Because of that, the projectors have fewer moving parts that allow them to run quieter and have better reliability.
The MP-JW4001 and MP-JW3501 both have native WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution and output 4,000 and 3,500 lumens, respectively. Both also have a 1.2x manual zoom. The MP-JU4001 is a WUXGA (1920 x 1200) projector with an output of 4,000 lumens and a 1.6x zoom. They all feature 10-bit color processing and support a display image up to 300 inches diagonal. The laser light engines require no lamp replacement and get 20,000 hours of life in normal mode or up to 40,000 hours in Long Life 2 mode.
All of the models have two HDCP-compliant HDMI inputs, two 15-pin D-sub inputs and one output, 3.5mm stereo mini jack in and out, composite video in, stereo RCA in, USB, an Ethernet port, and a 16W speaker. To facilitate setup, the projectors have Maxell's Perfect Fit 2 technology that allows for individual adjustment of the corners and sides of the image independent of one another. There is also a cloning function to be able to easily share settings from one projector to another. Full projector control and the ability to display photos, files, and web sites is possible with the Quick Connection app that is available for iPad, iPhone, and Android.
The three projectors are covered by Maxell's 5-year/10,000-hour warranty.
