Epson MovieMate 50 User Reviews

I previously owned an Epson Moviemate 25 and a Moviemate 30s. And, I bought a Moviemate 50 because I thought to myself FINALLY a projector that is portable and has a coaxil dolby connection instead of the optical. While it IS a step forward for being portable, it has taken two steps backwards for other items. Let me explain: 1. The image of my Moviemate 30s is actually BRIGHTER than that of the Moviemate 50. My moviemate 30s is 200 lumens brighter. 2. On Batman Begins DVD and other DVDs with darker scenes, my Moviemate 30s is better for the darker scenes. The Moviemate 50 shows the scenes as dark gray, not black. 3. My 30s is definately more stylish and sturdy than the 50, but I like the fact that the 50 is half the size and weight. However, I don't like that fact that it looks and feels cheaper. I understand that Epson has created a Moviemate 55 for videogames (ps3, xbox 360). The funny thing is, the Moviemate 55 is nothing but a Moviemate 30s (same lumens, same capabilities); it's just half the size. The price for the 50 is great though. However, if you have a moviemate 25 and want component connection, get a moviemate 30 or a moviemate 50. But, if you have a moviemate 30s or 33 there is NO REASON whatsoever to get a Moviemate 50 unless you just want portability.

Any Problems: No problems at all except that the contrast which is horrible. It's only 300 compared to the contrast of my Moviemate 25 and 30s which were 1000. Why did Epson do that???
