SubscribeSeeking to bolster its line-up of small-chassis, single-chip 4K installation projectors, Panasonic Connect has announced the upcoming PT-RQ7 series.
The line will comprise four initial models including the PT-RQ7L and PT-RQ6L with 4K UHD resolution (3840x2160), spec'd at 7,500 and 6,500 ISO21118 lumens brightness, respectively, and the PT-RZ7L and PT-RZ6L with WUXGA resolution (1920x1200) at the same brightness levels. The new family is positioned between the FRQ60 series released July 2022, which offers 4K models at 6,000 and 5,200 lumens, and the more recent REQ12 line released in May 2023, which has 4K models at 12,000, 10,000, and 8,000 lumens.
The 4K models utilize a DLP chip with a native array of 1920x1080, coupled with the company's Quad Pixel Drive pixel-shifting to achieve full UHD resolution. WUXGA models use a native 1920x1200 DMD.
With a chassis measuring approximately 19.6 x 6.7 x 17.3 inches (WHD) and an expected weight of 39.7 pounds (or less), the RQ7 is relatively lightweight and easy to manage for immersive installations, and is said to be 29% smaller than Panasonic's existing RZ790/RZ690 models. Mounting and installation flexibility is further enhanced by a wide range of lenses with varying degrees of generous vertical and horizontal lens shift depending on the projector model/lens combination. All the models offer 360 degree orientation.
All the units boast Panasonic's Solid Shine blue laser technology, executed here in a sealed dust-protected chamber with an IP5X rating. The projectors offer a maintenance-free, filterless design, and are rated for 20,000 hours lifespan as well as 24/7 round-the-clock operation.
Key features carried over from earlier products include a multi-laser drive engine with failover circuitry and automatic back-up input for uninterrupted projection. Connections include a pair of HDMI ports compatible with up to 4K/60Hz signals (downscaled onboard for the WUXGA models), and projection of 1080p signals at up to a 240Hz frame rate is supported on the RQ7 and RQ6 models. Panasonic's HDBaseT Digital Link connection is available for long-distance signal input and control. The projector's also support Panasonic's Geo Pro software for projector control and calibration.
The Panasonic PT-RQ7 series is expected to be released in the U.S. and Europe in the 3rd quarter of 2024. Pricing has not yet been announced.
